Andrea’s practice explores storytelling as a gesture to activate and enchant transformational experiences through her audiovisual installations, graphic work, audiovisual performances, workshops, and lectures. Her focus on storytelling encompasses ecological narratives, animism, hybridity, magic, and dreams; which for her, re-enchant this world, open new worlds and allow for a regenerative narrative to birth in a society of rigidity and linearity. Her graphic language involves gestures such as ornaments, illustrations, photography, website design, and riso-printing.

Beneath the Surface: Deep Listening, Buried Narratives, and Embodied Resistance (2024)

In a world where noise and silence perpetuate cycles of oppression and ecological destruction, Beneath the Surface invites us to pause, listen deeply, and use our voices to reclaim buried stories. This composition presents a radical approach to knowledge production, emphasizing embodied resistance as a crucial means of emancipation.

Through personal and collective narratives, and a collection of writings composed over a year, Luïza Luz reflects on the challenges of navigating academic institutions that replicate selective narratives, emphasizing deep listening as both a theoretical foundation and a practical necessity. The work features contributions by Ahmet Öğüt and Jamila Barakat, broadening the dialogue around education, memory, and the power of the collective.

Grounded in the body as a living archive, Beneath the Surface encourages listeners to confront shared inheritances and transform trauma into pathways for eco-liberation. In these turbulent times, deep listening becomes our most vital ally. As we grieve not only for lost lives but also for lost connections, we yearn to reconnect with one another and the Earth. Listening—through sound and the felt experiences of our bodies—offers us a way back.

Planetary Embodiment (2023)

Planetary Embodiment (2021-2023) is a seminar and transdisciplinary artistic practice coordinated by Luïza Luz at the Berlin University of Arts as part of Studium Generale. Engaging with ‘The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action,’ as suggested by Audre Lorde, we envisioned this book with the intention of investigating the power of words in breaking silences and promoting awareness of intersectional environmentalism. The content was developed through workshops and guest lectures in collaboration with Andrea Galano Toro, gal sherizly, Denilson Baniwa, participants, and friends.

§ymBi𑃰c3nՓ Memoria (2024)

The project originates from the creation of a speculative fable that imagines what future ecosystems might be like, expanding and reformulating the notion of the neofossil. This speculative scenario is then given the name §ymBi𑃰c3nՓ: a new geological era in which Earth has become a testament to the resilience and adaptability of nature, governed by mutualism and synergy.

Documentation of process, technology, diagrams and research begind the project.

MOTHERLAND (2019)

“We are the daughters of our mothers, our homes, our stories. All these things make us, whether these are the places where we grew up, the food we were raised with, the smell that reminds us of Sunday mornings or the songs we memorized. What is the motherland to you? How far away are you from it? And how can you go back to it?.”

In collaboration with Boetie Zijlstra, Merle Findhammer and Nai- Syuan Ye.
