Artist, Graphic Designer and Researcher
(ES, CL~1997)
Barcelona based.

Andrea’s practice explores storytelling as a gesture to activate and enchant transformational experiences through her audiovisual installations, graphic work, audiovisual performances, workshops, and lectures. Her focus on storytelling encompasses ecological narratives, animism, hybridity, magic, and dreams; which for her, re-enchant this world, open new worlds and allow for a regenerative narrative to birth in a society of rigidity and linearity. Her graphic language involves gestures such as ornaments, illustrations, photography, website design, and riso-printing.

Assemblage(s): a Holobiont Spell(2024)

The work explores the entangled relationships between humans, the gut, bacteria, and the ecosystems we inhabit through biomaterials, a fractal language, a map, and sound. The spell is one of transformation, beginning and ending at the Crossroads: The gut, as a place of connection between the body and the outside world, which transforms into the Shelter—the house that builds itself. The Shelter is the host that holds the stranger and the parasite, which is simultaneously a home for others. This fusion transitions into the Debris, a place of death and rebirth—what is left in the ground will later become part of the gut again. It is through this intertwined & circular spell that all these points connect in space.

Sound Design by  Ander Vallejo Larre.
Riso Print at Kudla Werkstat CZ.

Part of the exibihition: Messages at the Crossroads, part of the AiR Residency at Petrohradská Prague, with Sadrie Alves, and Tereza Melková.

§ymBi𑃰c3nՓ: Temporalidades Ecoicas y Memorias Futuras(2024)

The project originates from the creation of a speculative fable that imagines what future ecosystems might be like, expanding and reformulating the notion of the neofossil. This speculative scenario is then given the name §ymBi𑃰c3nՓ: a new geological era in which Earth has become a testament to the resilience and adaptability of nature, governed by mutualism and synergy.

Installation with biomaterials and partially generative using Biofeedback for sound and ligths.

Collaboration with: Ander Vallejo Larre, Pierantonio Mangia
& Rocio Gomez.

Planta Kinetica (2024)

For this digital plant to move, it needs to be watered, turning the piece interactive for the audience. The plant follows a cycle of movement that persists until it is no longer wet. The lights represent each turn the plant makes and can be manipulated through OSC, sent by other organisms, playing with the idea of nature and technology as a symbiotic ecosystem.

Collaboration with: Rocío Goméz &
Ander Vallejo Larre (When plants Sing).

Sound Design:  Ander Vallejo Larre.

De Allá Pa Acá (2021)

Translating to the colloquial Spanish as 'from there to here', De allá pa acá follows the speculative journey of one microbe, travelling from a Chilean mine to its new residence in the lithium battery powering your laptop. Microbes, extraordinarily minuscule living organisms, can survive in extracted lithium – the element that powers our everyday, electronic devices. This odyssey serves as a speculative vehicle to tell a multiplicity of stories of the Atacama Desert; from its cosmological creation to the necropolitics of Pinochet’s dictatorship.

Cicatrizes (2020)

During social movements the transformation of public space is key to understand the narrative of the country; the walls carry stories and tales from the people;the ground carries the sweat of the protesters; the ashes are left behind, and the water that was thrown over, which later evaporates. The video reflects on the materiality of those and their traces, the meaning of the water, the fire, the smell, and the layer of paint, as a form of cultural cleansing.

The video attempts to unravel what lies underneath the layer of paint. As well as critiquing google maps or Satellite imagery that lack the historical memory of a country, in this case, Chile, a country with a present revolution and a recent dictatorship.

Shown at Homecinema: unreliable narrators.
